PRAYING MANTIS were formed in London, England, in 1973 by brothers Chris and Tino Troy. Along with fellow London bands IRON MAIDEN, ANGEL WITCH and SAMSON, they quickly established themselves and rapidly received the attention of the music press of the time as part of what was labelled by "Sounds" magazine as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Unfortunately, business problems started to slow down the promising career severely and it took ten years until PRAYING MANTIS were able to release their second longplayer called 'Predator' - a period of time when grunge and alternative rock were at the peak of their popularity and traditional hard rock and heavy metal was regarded to be out of fashion. In Japan, though, the band still received the appreciation it deserved and was much more present there than it was in Europe back then.

In the dawn of the new millennium, the band's line up broke up, but PRAYING MANTIS were revived again in 2005. Until then, the Troy brothers and their companions have been pretty active, releasing great recordings and playing highly acclaimed live shows. The current album ‘Gravity’ is being hailed as one of the band’s finest to date and is still receiving stunning views across the world. It was well received in the album charts, top, reaching number 23 in the UK, 70 in Switzerland and an impressive number 6 in Japan. To hear and see the band now, you will experience both the spirit and energy of 1980 together with a technical style that really compliments today’s standards - witness yourself at BANG YOUR HEAD!!! 2023!
